  1. After 6 Months Rolls Royce Completes Pearl 10X Testing
The Rolls Royce Pearl 10X powerplant will power Dassault's forthcoming Falcon 10X flagship business jet. Rolls Royce recently said that it has now concluded testing on that powerplant after 6 months of rigourous testing. The Pearl 10X took to the skies for the first time back in early April, 2024 attached to a pylon on Roll Royce's 44 year old Boeing 747 test bed. Over the next few months the engine manufacturer put the engine through its paces and through a number of scenarios.
  2. During the 6-month flight test development program Rolls-Royce engineers checked-off on a plethora of tests. Many of them included basic handling characteristics and qualities of the engine and various speeds and altitudes. Shutting down and restarting the engine during flight. Anti-icing system testing and fan vibration checks along with other important parameters.
  3. The engine will go in service being built specifically for the Dassault Falcon 10X where it is expected to provide 18,000 lbs of thrust a side to the flagship executive jet. Originally the plan was to have the Falcon 10X enter service in 2025 but it is now anticipated for 2027 putting it squarely to compete with the in-service Bombardier Global 7500, Gulfstream G700 and eventually the upcoming flagship successors of the aforementioned like the Global 8000 and G800 by Gulfstream.
  4. The Falcon 10X is the largest business jet Dassault is making to date. It will be able to press close to the endurance numbers of the current industry leaders with a range of 7,500 nautical miles. MTOW of the aircraft will be in the region of 115,000 lbs and have a 110 foot length and 110-foot wingspan. The aircraft will also be able to carry up to 19 passengers. Maximum Mach Operating (MMO) speed of Mach .925 make for pretty compelling overall figures for the Falcon 10X.
