JetZero Moves Forward With Development Of All-Wing Design JetZero just announced that it has successfully closed on $100 million in financing to advance the development of its Jet1 program. The program is hoped to eventually birth the final certifiable and market-ready version, the Z4. The concept is an all-wing design that will eventually carry as many as 250 passengers for approximately 5,000 nautical miles. The company announced on the closing of a senior secured term loan facility of up to $100 million.
The eventual Z4 aircraft is targeting the middle market but given its all-wing design the calculations are for a fuel reduction of 50% compared to similar market segment aircraft that are in service today. "This facility is targeted for pace," said Tom O’Leary, JetZero CEO and co-founder. "Through this facility, we will fund tooling and production facilities in North Carolina, advancing aerospace innovation and reindustrializing America. Not only has the time come to reshape aviation, but the Z4 will lead the way.” The Z4 is expected to enter service in the early 2030s.
Z1 is the demonstrator - a full-scale demonstrator - that is being targeted to make the first flight by the end of 2027. The money is expected to go towards the acceleration of technology maturation, Demonstrator Jet1 manufacturing, and buildout of JetZero's U.S. manufacturing and test facilities in Greensboro, NC, along with growth and working capital in support of the company's U.S. operations.
In terms of where the program is tangibly at for JetZero, here are some milestones achieved earlier in the year. JetZero continues to advance the build of Jet1, its full-scale Demonstrator, with Scaled Composites, a Northrop Grumman company. The build was 40 percent complete as of June 2026, with its first flight scheduled for 4Q 2027. JetZero broke ground on Factory1, its Z4 production facility in North Carolina, in June 2026.
