Global 8000 Flagship To Enter Service With NetJets The Global 8000 will be the newest offering from Canadian airframer Bombardier and to kick off the new model's entry-into-service will be fractional ownership powerhouse NetJets. At this stage the company has made an order for just four of the flagship model aircraft. We say 'just' because NetJets is accustomed to ordering very large numbers especially for brand new models. Those 4 aircraft though will cost the company over 300 million dollars.
As a strategy to gain more Global 8000s without waiting extra time for them the company intends to convert other Global orders -namely the Global 7500 - to the 8000. This strategy should eventually net the company 24 jets. Bombardier will be working on framework to be able to upgrade the 7500 to the 8000 once certification has been given. "NetJets’ experience and expertise make them the ideal partner to unlock the full potential of this revolutionary Mach 0.94 business jet in a large fleet context," said Bombardier president and CEO Eric Martel.
