News: Bombardier Moving Global Assembly To Toronto Pearson

  1. Toronto Pearson New Site Of Bombardier Global Assembly
    A couple days ago Bombardier conducted a press meeting in which it would discuss the future of the Global assembly plant in Downsview. Bombardier suggests that they are moving from the Downsview, Toronto plant to a new 1 million sq ft plant at the Pearson International Airport also in Toronto. They will be making the move and opening in 2023 the airframer revealed. All Global models will be produced at the new site.

What happens to the Downsview site when the move to the new Pearson facility is completed? Bombardier also confirmed it will continue to support the aerospace heritage of the Downsview site with a multi-million-dollar contribution to the Downsview Aerospace Innovation and Research Consortium (DAIR) to develop a visionary aerospace hub for academic research and training activities. The contribution includes $2.5 million CAD in capital funding to refurbish the historic Moth Building, where wartime Mosquito fighter bombers and Tiger Moth trainers were produced.
