The FAA has given the green light for the installation and use of Viasat’s Ka-band in-flight connectivity business aviation system on the Dassault Falcon 7X and 8X. "The combination of our high-capacity satellite network and our compact and lightweight hardware allow us to offer incredible speeds," said Viasat business area director of business aviation Claudio D'Amico. "Our service offers our fastest, most robust business aviation in-flight connectivity solution and supports business-critical productivity capabilities and other data-rich applications while in-flight."

What would you guess is the new hot aviation market? Did you answer Vietnam? Dassault Aviation has delivered five aircraft there, including three in the last 18 months with another on the way. The operators, including charter/management firms Bluesky Airways and Hai Au Aviation, are new to business aviation, but are quick learners.

The FAA and EASA have approved use of Dassault’s advanced dual head-up display known as FalconEye, on the company’s Falcon 8X very long range trijet, adding to the aircraft’s industry-leading low visibility operations capability. The dual HUD configuration will ultimately permit an EFVS-to-land capability in near zero-zero conditions, pending new EASA regulations. "The bottom line is that this approval results in enhanced safety and more capability for Falcons equipped with Dassault’s industry-first FalconEye technology," said Carlos Brana, Executive Vice President, Civil Aircraft at Dassault Aviation. Dassault Aviation has been an undisputed leader in the development of HUD technology. In 2016, Dassault introduced FalconEye, the first head-up display (HUD) system to combine synthetic, database-driven terrain mapping and actual thermal and low-light camera images. Today, single HUD-equipped aircraft with FalconEye can fly non-precision approaches to 100 feet.

I've visited the MRO facility in Le Bourget while working on the maintenance of aircraft working on the prevention of aluminium alloys. The Falcon6X is impressive due to its cabin as the tallest and widest in business aviation. Yet to fly on it msyelf though, perhaps one day.

Yes the Falcon 6X is an impressive aircraft. It is a leapfrog aircraft for Dassault...while it will remain so familiar to others it also bridging the gap to the in-development 10X.

With the Falcon 6X now in service customers can now look forward to deliveries of their new jets. However, how does this new longrange jet translate for the customer in terms of where it can fly? Dassault says the 6X will fly a maximum range of 5,500 nautical miles at Mach 0.80. Speed it up a little to MACH 0.85 and the range drops to around 5,100 nautical miles, still very respectable. At longrange cruise speed this translates into connecting : Los Angeles to Geneva, São Paulo to London, Beijing to San Francisco, London to Los Angeles. OR Paris to Beijing, Shanghai to Melbourne, Los Angeles to London, São Paulo to Chicago or Paris to Johannesburg at 0.85.
