It appears that operators of the Embraer E175 regional jet have been ordered via a directive to check the winglets for cracking following an incident that resulted in the loss of a winglet during flight on this aircraft type. Civil aviation regulator ANAC says there is a "possibility of cracks development" on the wing-tip connection area. An Envoy Air E175 lost its starboard winglet during a flight between Charleston and Dallas on 3 May.

Commercial regional turboprop airframer ATR is eying the possibility of hybrid-electric propulsion on its aircraft. The airframer said it has received the funding to commence the analysis for the feasibility of a next-generation turboprop that targets a 20 percent fuel and CO2 emissions reduction and 'double-digit' lower operating and maintenance costs over the current generation ATRs aircraft. ATR hopes to launch the program next year with an eye to make it commercially available by 2030.

After Russia's airline industry has been shut-out largely from the global supply of commercial airliners, operations, parts and services the airline has no choice but to turn to its home-grown airliners to fulfill shortfall and future capacity. Aeroflot plans to sign a framework agreement with United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) covering the sale of 300 aircraft. This isn't official news as yet but a source very close to it can confirm this is the direction Aeroflot is going in.

Boeing MAX10 and MAX7 Certifications slowly trucking along amid more stringent FAA processes. The MAX10 is more the focus as the target is now the end of the year but with how much harder the FAA is making certification, Boeing could well miss this deadline. The much smaller MAX7 probably will enter service before the MAX10. Part of the issue is after December this year...the FAA will be requiring that newly certificated aircraft have a modern pilot alerting system - a feature that all MAX variants do not have.
