Recent (today) photo of the first re-engined Airbus 321 with sharklets. It is looking good I must say, the sharklets add to the looks. Can see how good this will look as a business jet.

News is that Prat & Whitney completed assembly of its first PW1100G test engine that will eventually power the Airbus A320neo. The new turbo fan by Pratt & Whitney is expected to undergo testing at their facility in West Palm Beach, Florida. Pratt & Whitney has firm orders for 1,136 PW1100G engines. The powerplant's all-new core has a maximum rating of 33,000lb thrust to power narrowbody aircraft with 130 to 210 seats.

Looks like the news of HBC looking to axe their business-jet line, Airbus is taking a hit. If you are wondering why Airbus would be feeling the fall-out from a competitor well it turns out that the relation may be closer than you thought. Airbus has supplied fuselages and wing sections from its factory in Broughton in the UK in the past. In essence, no HBC jets, no need for Airbus' services.

Airbus jets are being forced to install stress recording devices on the rudders of 215 of its aircraft, stemming from the fatal Airbus crash in 2001. The FAA rule was finalized almost exactly 11 years after the fiery crash of American Airlines Flight 587 in Queens, N.Y., on Nov. 12, 2001. Those who remembered, the aircraft took off from JFK in NY and crashed shortly after the tail detatched.

The FAA estimates the update to cost $72,720 to $107,720 per plane. Another option the FAA approved, which would cost $198,500 per plane, is to install equipment limiting movement of the rudder pedal.

Not really to do with the business jet side of Airbus but it is still relevant to them. Airbus is not too far from launching the 'sharklet' retrofit for their A320 aircraft. The new wingtips could be available for the A320 from March or April.

Airbus Corporate Jet, also known as ACJ is hoping that 2013 brings stronger sales for them after 2012 proved to be dismal with only five firm orders gained to their backlog of VIP aircraft orders overall. ACJ VP François Chazelle, says..."It's mostly at the smaller end, but I could imagine some appetite coming back for widebodies too." He seems very optimistic!

Has anyone heard anything about the first ACJ380 private jet? Not much going around about this aircraft said to be for a very prominent Arabian client.

Now of course you know that with Boeing's BBJ3 showing at the recently concluded EBACE '13, Airbus Corporate Jet was not going to sit by and watch with their hands tied behind their back. They announced a new design for their ACJ319 at the show! The so-called 'Bluejay' cabin concept designed by ACJC’s own Creative Design Studio Sylvain Mariat.

Airbus is currently displaying an Airbus ACJ319 at Jet Expo 2013. The large business jet is allowing company executives, billionaires and government officials to see for themselves the widest and tallest cabin of any business jet. Operated by Tyrolean Jet Services of Austria for a private customer, as well as on VVIP charters, the Airbus ACJ319 features lounge areas at the front, a bedroom with ensuite bathroom in the middle, and additional seating at the back. It is certificated for up to 19 passengers.
