FAA Green Lights Certification Of Cirrus Vision SF50 Duluth, Minnesota based airframer Cirrus Aircraft finally has been given the nod for the FAA certification of the Vision SF50 Jet. The company was delighted to announce to the world during the ongoing NBAA that full FAA certification was awarded a few days ago on Friday 28th October. The aircraft is powered by a Williams International FJ33-5A engine mounted between the plane's V-tail. The light aircraft has a range of around 1,250 nautical miles at 240 knots but can fly as fast as 300-knots for a fast cruising speed. Service ceiling is anticipated to be in the region of FL280.
With the full FAA certification in hand it now paves the way for deliveries to start in December. There are currently at least ten Vision SF50 aircraft in final assembly. Cirrus suggests as ramp-up matures that they plan to deliver one aircraft per week starting next year. With the orderbook for this particular aircraft standing at over 600 they need to get them to the customer quickly! “My brother and I started with a few good ideas, but more importantly a lot of big dreams, 32 years ago,” Cirrus CEO and co-founder Dale Klapmeier said at the show. “A decade ago we announced that we were going to build a jet. Today we are there. We are a jet company.” For more information: Cirrus Design Corporation 4515 Taylor Circle Duluth, MN 55811 www.cirrusaircraft.com ***
