  1. Raisbeck Drag-Reducing System For Cessna 208B Caravan
Raisbeck Engineering has been working on a Drag-reducing system for the Cessna 208B Caravan -which carries the cargo pod beneath the fuselage-. The new system has completed pre-certification tests and is likely to be awarded its STC by August, 2021. With this new system, two aerodynamic strakes have been added to the aft of the cargo pod while the forward section gains a composite forward fairing to improve the aerodynamics and thus decrease drag and increase fuel efficiency.
  2. The additions under the drag-reducing system only weighs an extra 38 lbs. Raisbeck president Hal Chrisman suggested that more than 131 flight hours are under the belt with the new system. It complies with FAA Part 23 regulations. Looking forward to the future, Raisbeck is expected to provide the test results to the FAA pending Type Inspection Authorization (TIA). Then the FAA will perform their own tests to see if the new system satisfies their requirements, that should be completed by August. Below you see a Cessna 208B Caravan with a cargo pod that does not have the drag-reducing system from Raisbeck for comparison.
