  1. Collins Delivers Avionics For NASA X59 QueSST
Collins Aerospace has delivered the avionics for NASA's X59 QueSST aircraft. It is not the usual avionics set up that you tend to see though. Besides the usual MFDs there are some extra screens fitted in the cockpit of the X59 QueSST . This solution was needed because of the design of the front of the aircraft. Since the jet is designed and optimized for high speed there are no windows looking forward in the cockpit. How does the pilot see then?
  2. This is where Collins Aerospace weaved their magic in the creation of Enhanced Vision (EV) as well as Synthetic Vision (SVS) displays to allow the pilot to have awareness of what is ahead of them. "We are bringing Pro Line Fusion to the world of supersonic with an optimized solution for the X-59," said Peeter Soot, Collins Aerospace senior director of marketing for avionics. "It has no forward-looking windscreen, so we are adding EVS [enhanced vision] and SVS [synthetic vision] to give pilots all the visual references they need. And we are introducing touchscreens and a new HUD to combine all the images, and a suite of navigation and surveillance equipment." First flight for the X59 QueSST is expected to be in 2022.
