  1. Samson 400 Eh/kg Battery Unveiled At 2025 Paris Air Show
Coming out of the recently concluded 2025 edition of the Paris Air Show, Everett Washington-based company magniX introduced more energy-dense battery cells. The Samson 400 Wh/kg Battery Cells are the company's latest generation and exceed the 300 Wh/kg Battery Cells that they introduced a year ago. This has potentially positive implications for aviation especially on the turboprop class end of the market that wants to electrify their offerings.
  2. For example, the Cessna Caravan and De Havilland Beaver would be in line for these conversions. Samson batteries have been developed with the benefit of magniX’s extensive experience in electric flight and offer unrivalled energy density and cycle life as well as patented safety features. “This significant breakthrough in energy density will extend the range and payload of electric aircraft, further enhancing the strong commercial case for electric flight, while also widening the use cases for our battery technology,” said Reed Macdonald, CEO of magniX. “With our fully-integrated electric powertrains for aircraft, our new HeliStorm engine for electric helicopters, and continuing swift improvements in our Samson battery product, magniX remains the industry leader in cutting-edge electric technology.”
  3. Additionally, the HeliStorm engine had a model on display at the magniX booth at the Paris Air Show. The HeliStorm engine will be for electric helicopters and engines that require higher rates of rotor speed like 6,000 and 7,000 rpm ranges. “Achieving this breakthrough is a major step forward in one of the world’s most important areas of technology,” said Riona Armesmith, CTO at magniX. “Our Samson battery product is establishing itself as the go-to choice both for aerospace and for other high-end applications that require exceptional energy density, safety features, reliability, and long cycle life.” The Samson 300 batteries already pair well with the magniX 350 and 650 electric propulsion units.
