GOL Signs LOI With Avalon For Up To 250 eVTOL Aircraft GOL (Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes S.A.) with Grupo Comporte is making an order through a non-binding Letter of Intent for up to 250 eVTOL aircraft from lessor Avalon (for the VA-X4 eVTOL aircraft). Once the aircraft passes the certification hurdle GOL expects to receive eVTOL planes starting in 2025. Grupo Comporte is providing the investment capital required for the project, and will engage GOL's aviation expertise to develop the flight network using the VA-X4 eVTOL aircraft.
The VA-X4 eVTOL aircraft is considered to be one of the best positioned aircraft of this type to hit the market in the near future and with a growing backlog of firm orders and pre-orders Vertical Aerospace has the needed push to see this aircraft through the certification period. For GOL, they are positioning themselves to have added flexibility in Brazil going into the future. GOL is continuing to work on its domestic network and is finding ways to boost their share in this space. The agreement with Avolon and Grupo Comporte is also part of GOL's commercial strategy to invest strategically in the regional air transportation market, opening up new routes to underserved domestic markets.
