  1. Hybrid-Electric Evio 810 Enters The Market
Another hybrid-electric contender has entered the race. The start-up is called Evio and they are planning to bring the Evio 810 regional hybrid-electric airliner to market by the 2030s. It should be noted that this a a Boeing-backed venture and is a clean-sheet design showcasing a four-prop engine setup. The company has been in existence since 2019 but the final design for the Evio 810 has recently been released to the public.
  2. It appears that the passenger variant will be configured with 76 seats. However, down-the-line the company intends to offer the platform for cargo and defense applications. The aircraft is expected to be powered by four engines and it is revealed that Pratt and Whitney Canada is actively working with the company to provide a solution for the engines as the aircraft is hybrid-electric.
  3. “We will leverage the proven performance and unmatched reliability of the PT6E engine, as well as our decades of experience in propulsion technology innovation and systems integration, to unlock new possibilities for aircraft fuel efficiency and mission versatility,” Scott McElvaine, v-p of sales and marketing for Pratt & Whitney Canada, said of the Evio collaboration.
  4. The Evio 810 is one of the latest entrants to the hybrid-electric regional airliner/business aviation landscape however, there are other names that are actively developing aircraft in the space. Maeve Aerospace is working on the M80 and as the name suggests is an 80-seat regional airliner. Maeve and Evio are among the largest and highest density cabins being developed currently. Others are targeting much smaller cabins with them staying within the 19 to 30-seat cabin. In terms of provisional orders, the company claims they have received 450 orders.
