FAA Certification Granted For Epic E1000 AX Earlier this year, JF alerted you to the Epic E1000 AX variant from Epic Aircraft. The company previously had the GX variant of the E1000 and the AX variant now represents the latest and best from this flagship model. Epic Aircraft just announced that the latest variant has now been granted Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification.
An example of the E1000 AX was on display at the recently held 2025 edition of the Sun 'n Fun held in Lakeland, Florida. "The E1000 AX is a testament to our team’s passionate and ongoing commitment to adding automated, safety-enhancing tools and technology for pilots and passengers," said Epic Aircraft CEO Doug King. "We are dedicated to setting a new standard in safety, as well as performance and comfort." The two main headlines of the upgrades are in reference to Garmin's additions. Garmin Autothrottle, fully integrated with the G1000 NXi system, automatically manages engine power from takeoff to landing, ensuring optimal power settings and protecting against throttle rollback, overtemperature, and overtorque conditions. It also enhances safety by adjusting power in overspeed, underspeed, and engine failure scenarios while considering flap and gear positions.
The AX variant is now the 3rd iteration of the G1000 to have been certified by the FAA. Back in 2019, the base E1000 was certified then in 2021, the E1000 GX was certified and now in 2025, the AX has been given the green light paving the way for deliveries to commence for the latest iteration. "I want to congratulate the Epic team on completing certification of the E1000 AX," said Epic Aircraft, LLC owner and Silicon Valley resident, Tanya Eves. "This achievement demonstrates Epic’s dedication to ongoing innovation in general aviation."
The AX iteration too has a maximum cruising speed of 333-knots, full-fuel payload of 1,177 pounds and up to 4,000-fpm climb rate. Time aloft permits a 1,560-nm range however, flying in a economical model might get you closer to 1,650 nautical miles. Certified to operate at up to 34,000 feet, the AX introduces more than 25 enhancements to both pilots and passengers.
