Jet Star's first Airbus A321LR has landed in Australia. It arrived in Melbourne at the end of July. It is supposed to be the first of 38 neo aircraft coming from airbus for the Australian airline. The A321LR neo is already 15% more efficient than the standard A320 . Naturally it can fly nearly 1,200 km further too and is significantly quieter, 50%. The first aircraft should start commercial service in Australia in September where it will be doing routes like Melbourne to Cairns. "Our fleet of new NEOs will lift the bar on passenger comfort, and we’ve fine-tuned the cabin configuration to set a new standard of inflight experience for low fares travel in Australia. This means wider seats for customers, larger overhead lockers, in-seat USB charging and in-flight digital streaming technology, which is an Australian first for a low fares airline. The A321LR burns significantly less fuel than previous generation aircraft, and advanced weather detection technology will enable our pilots to plot smoother and more fuel-efficient flight paths. That translates to a saving of one point two million kilograms of fuel annually - a reduction of almost 4,000 tonnes of emissions or the equivalent of removing 1,500 cars from the road each year. The aircraft also has a greater flying range than Jetstar’s current A320 fleet, which opens up opportunities to expand our international network across the Asia Pacific region – meaning more low fares to even more destinations", said CEO Gareth Evans. The registration on the first example is believed to be VH-OFE.

Boeing has been given the green light to restart deliveries of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to customers after a hiatus. American Airlines should be the first customer to receive a Dreamliner from the airframer since the FAA has permitted this.

Malaysian has selected the Airbus A330-900neo to start their widebody fleet renewal. An order for 20 of the type has been made and will be broken down into two 10 outright purchased from Airbus and 10 from lessor Avalon. Christian Scherer said, "Malaysia Airlines is one of the great Asian carriers and we are proud and humbled to be its preferred supplier of widebody aircraft. The decision is a clear endorsement of the A330neo as the most efficient option in this size category for premium operations. It's also the clear winner in terms of in-flight comfort and we are looking forward to working with Malaysia Airlines to define an exceptional cabin experience." The aircraft will replace the airlines standard CEO Airbus 330s and will join the A350-900s the airline already operates. The carrier will operate the A330neo on its network covering Asia, the Pacific and the Middle East. Malaysia Airlines will configure its A330neo fleet with a premium layout seating 300 passengers in two classes.

Ryanair suggests that the Boeing MAX 10 variant will not be ready for certification by year-end. "I think Boeing accepts that it won't get certified by year end, but I suspect that Congress will approve an extension to that certification process out into early 2023", Ryanair Group Chief Executive Michael O'Leary said in an interview. "It makes no sense to call on a company like Boeing to redesign the cockpit or redesign safety systems...so I would urge Congress not to demand a redesign," he added.
