First Production Cirrus Vision SF50 Jet Takes Off 'P1' is the first Production test article in the Cirrus Aircraft Vision SF50 test campaign. It took off for the first time recently (on May 5th). The particular aircraft is busy conducting flight tests before it gets painted. There after it is expected to continue testing before having the final interior and details installed as how it would be in a production aircraft. Once the relevant testing is completed with the production aircraft it is expected that certification for the Vision SF50 will be granted to Cirrus coming on to the end of next month.
P1 is to be used to help prove each step of the design and build process. Basically this includes trimming, drilling, bonding, hardware and systems installation, attaching the wing and stabilizer, engine installation, mounting flight controls and accessories, then painting with the first coat of primer. The Cirrus backlog is now in the vicinity of 600 aircraft. We will check back in to let you know when the Vision SF50 gains certification later next month.
