  1. Williams International To Power Eclipse EA700
An interesting development has happened in relational to One Aviation's in-development Eclipse EA700. One Aviation announced that it has choose Williams International using the FJ33-5A-12 turbofan to power the Eclipse EA700. This is significant because One Aviation/Eclipse has been using Pratt & Whitney for the last thirteen years with the PW610F on the EA550/500.
  2. Head of One Aviation Alan Klapmeier said that he preferred the FJ33-5A-12 turbofan from Williams to power the new EA700 because of its better performance and overall efficiency. The company also looked at the slightly more powerful PW615F (in relation to the PW610F) from Pratt & Whitney Canada but in the end went with Williams International. Of course the EA700 otherwise known as Project 'Canada', is the updated variant for the EA550 with different features including a new wing design, slightly longer cabin, Garmin G3000 flight deck, new interior and so on. "We were also looking for an engine with a long-term future," Klapmeier adds. "The FJ33-5A is installed on the Cirrus VisionJet, for example, and that aircraft has been sold in very high volumes," he says, in reference to the personal jet’s 600-strong orderbook. The only other platform powered by the PW615 is the Citation Mustang, which was recently cancelled by Cessna.
