  1. Gulfstream G500 Completes Flutter Tests
General Dynamics company Gulfstream Aerospace has reached a significant milestone in the testing phase of their new G500 model. Flutter testing has now been successfully completed for the G500. The G500 test-bed aircraft 'T1' was responsible for conducting these specific tests and were done over the course of 50 flights. “The G500 has accomplished a great deal since we launched the flight-test program in May 2015,” said Dan Nale, senior vice president, Programs, Engineering and Test, Gulfstream. “With three aircraft in flight, the program has surpassed 430 flight-test hours over more than 105 flights. This latest accomplishment, as well as the outstanding performance and reliability of all three flight-test aircraft, highlights the tremendous progress being made. The flight-test team has started the new year off with great success.”
  2. There are two more aircraft in the testing regime for the Gulfstream G500. T2 and T3 entered the testing phase on November 20th, 2015 and since then have accumulated precious hours in various areas of testing. Test-bed T2 is doing climatic chamber testing with flight loads validation and aircraft performance and systems testing. Test-bed T3 is evaluating ice-protection system performance, landing gear and nosewheel steering operation, environmental control system performance and the cabin pressure control system, as well as community noise testing. It also is the test aircraft to test the Symmetry Flight Deck TM. There will be a T4 aircraft and that has already been inducted into the Flight Test facility and is in the final stages of flight preparation. P1 is a fully outfitted production aircraft that will test the interior elements as well as complete integration of the aircraft systems with the passenger experience. With flutter testing satisfactorily completed it is onto other facets of testing across the test articles. The G500 is expected to receive type certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and European Aviation Safety Agency in 2017. It is scheduled to enter service in 2018, with the G600 following in 2019.
