Million Air Breaks Ground On New FBO In NY

A ground-breaking ceremony held yesterday at New York’s Westchester County Airport that signaled the commencement of construction of Million Air's new $70 million FBO complex at the metro New York City airfield. The first phase of the 23-acre project consists of a 54,000-sq-ft hangar with heated floor, expected to be completed by mid-2017. According to the company, the structure, which will be able to accommodate ultra-long-range or smaller business jets, is already more than half pre-sold. Before year-end, Million Air expects to begin building a new 20,000-sq-ft terminal to LEED specifications, with an enclosed climate-controlled four-lane porte cochere. Designed in the Adirondack style, the building will feature stone, timber and fireplaces, and among its amenities will be a full-time coffee barista. (AIN)

And so it has opened for business. Meridian Hayward is located at an airport with no curfew and like Teterboro, is a General Aviation-specific airport, with no commercial airline traffic. This initial opening features a newly constructed 6,300 square foot terminal with support offices, a 30,000 square foot hanger and 3.5 acres of ramp area. Ken Forester, CEO, Meridian said: “We are extremely pleased to be able to announce the opening of our new FBO, Meridian Hayward. We are now pumping fuel and ready to serve our customers in the San Francisco Bay area. The genesis of this project began four years ago, and now it’s moved from a vision to a reality. Hayward is the keystone of our long-term growth strategy, which also includes a new hangar project at Teterboro, and the continued expansion of our charter fleet.” EPIC Fuels is the branded fuel provider for the airport.

Colorado jetCenter, the Avfuel-branded FBO at Colorado Springs Municipal Airport (KCOS), has completed its interior renovation project and welcomed guests the revamped facility. While the terminal was always a functional space, the new design transcends utility, providing an open, inviting space for business to transact and crew to relax. “We’ve received stellar feedback from our customers concerning the final product,” said Colorado jetCenter general manager, Aaron Wood. “They’re just as excited as we are about this upgrade. The new look and feel of our FBO is inviting. It allows us to do our job with a high level of service - as always - but in a space our guests can truly enjoy.” The renovation focused on the common areas of the FBO terminal. As part of the project, the FBO moved walls to open up the terminal for expanded comfort areas and relocated the customer service counter to enhance both operational service and security. The ceiling was heightened with new grids and tiles, and LED lighting was installed throughout the facility. The space now includes a coffee bar, a ramp-viewing area, a TV lounge and pilot lounges. The crème space with dark, neutral carpeting is trimmed with accents of natural Cherrywood, black granite and stainless steel appliances for a warm, yet modern aesthetic that exudes class.

Jet Aviation has taken over an FBO at the Dulles International Airport in Washington. The FBO used to be under operation by Ross Aviation and Jet Aviation recently acquired it. With more than 20 FBO operations worldwide, the addition of Washington Dulles allows Jet Aviation to meet increasing demand for high-quality, customer-oriented FBO services. Jet Aviation’s Washington Dulles facility encompasses six hangars, 10 acres of ramp space and a newly renovated best-in-class FBO terminal building that includes on-site Customs and Immigration clearance, VIP lounge, flight planning center, executive conference room and on-site car rental.

“We are delighted to expand our FBO network in the U.S. to include Washington Dulles International Airport,” said Jet Aviation Group President Rob Smith. “Washington Dulles is well connected to Jet Aviation's other US locations, particularly Teterboro Airport, and with a large volume of international traffic it’s a significant expansion of our global network. Jet Aviation’s unparalleled hospitality and premium customer service makes us a great addition to Washington Dulles, just in time for the Presidential Inauguration.”

Now the same FBO is the first in the world to obtain LEVEL 2 of this certification. Achieving LEVEL 2 of the IS-BAH provides an additional guarantee to customers and partners of the FBO of Cannes Mandelieu in the fields of security, safety, service and the environment. Micheal Tohane, director of General Aviation Business Unit and Sky Valet said: “Sky Valet is the leader of its sector in Europe and aims to be the market leader in terms of quality of service. The general aviation terminal at Rome Ciampino Airport has been given a major face lift. The airport is home to six FBOs that includes Jetex, Universal Aviation, Sky Services, Signature Flight Support, Argos/Deer Jet and Aviapartner—the structure was given an approximately $3.37 million (€3 million) refit inside and out, featuring natural materials such as steel, wood, ceramic and glass, inspired by Italian and Roman themes. On the inside, the ground floor layout called for the FBOs to be grouped around a large central passenger lounge and two shared meeting rooms, along with commercial space. The three larger FBO spaces incorporate their own private passenger lounges, and the second floor of the facility now houses four crew snooze rooms. (AIN)
