We have a very well connected member on JetForums. A BIG thank you to Aviator4512 for setting up a private tour of the jets on static display at the 2012 NBAA. We were escorted by FBO owner Bob Showalter of Showalter Flying Service the day before the NBAA show opened at Orlando Executive Airport.

While we were there, we had the good fortune of catching a very unique jet arriving at Showalter... the Syberjet SJ30. Purportedly the world's fastest and longest range 'light' business jet, it tops out at 486 knots (560 mph!). And making touchdowns feel as smooth as the sexy lines of this jet; check out the trailing link landing gear...

The differences in jets are distinct to most pilots, but even the uninitiated notice something unusual about the SJ30. It is small enough to be confused with a home built. The pictures don't convey the scale, but it appears to be smaller than a Phenom 100. In reality, the SJ30 is probably similar in size, but the landing gear signature adds to the effect.

the plane flys as good as it looks and is great performer. the only problem is you can't buy one yet and of the one's flying, no one wants to sell. (i have tried)

I thought I'd dig this thread up again as SyberJet are still building toward production in Utah (though waiting for their QTR2 2014 report). I hope this jet is finally put into mass production, I had a close look at it and it has all the right numbers and generally greatly exceeds the performance and economy plus operating cost of every high performance VLJ around. Though I hope they intend to install a pressure-refueling system that's assessable from ground level. Their website has some very interesting indications of what they have in mind for it.

They're going to use my favorite flight deck:

Yup, I could live with that! But I suppose the only thing that puts me off a bit is the nose-high attitude on finals which stems from highly swept leading edges. That said, the only way to go that fast and that far with that economy is to use highly swept edges. They should offer some flight demo/tests soonish and raise the interest level so that people know what it can do. It blows the doors of every other VLJ in the works.
